Hook99 is a program that enables the user to customize the Start button. You can change or remove the text and replace the Windows flag on the Start button with any icon of your choice. Hook99 supports Windows icons, bitmaps, and can extract icons from executables and libraries. It can also make the background of desktop icons captions transparent. (For the changes to remain in effect after Windows restarts, you'll need to put the program's icon into the StartUp folder.)
