This program monitors system performance. Offers meters such as Disk Drive Space, CPU Usage, System Resources (monitors free GDI, user and system resources), Physical Memory Usage (two meters, one graphical and one text based, that let you keep an eye on your memory usage and help you find out if you have enough), Page File Usage, Page Faults (indicates the rate at which pages are read from or written to the disk to resolve hard page faults; this meter is a primary indicator of the kinds of faults that cause system-wide delays), File Cache (monitors the amount of memory currently in use by the system file cache), Running Processes, and more.
"BasicLinux is designed specifically for old PCs. It uses a small kernel and busybox to provide a low-RAM Linux, capable of browsing the web, doing email, and functioning as an X terminal. The current release of BasicLinux is particularly suitable for old laptops -- it has PCMCIA capability and includes MagicPoint (a presentation tool similar to PowerPoint)."
Network Assistant (Nassi for short) is a real-time communication utility for the office environment, including channels-based chat, shared whiteboard, message board and instant messaging. Doesn't require an Internet connection or a dedicated server (the program uses the serverless technology based on IP Multicast or broadcast) and is intended to be used in small office or home office local networks. Offers handy features such as user details, file transfers, remote processes control, remote screenshots, activity tracking and more. There are four types of chat channels in Nassi: general, announcer, password protected and private (person-to-person). The program supports its own instant messages and WinPopup / Messenger messages as well. In your chat phrases and instant messages, you can use graphical emoticons (40+ emoticons available). There is also the Shared Whiteboard feature: you and your friends or colleagues can draw on shared whiteboard. Using the whiteboard, you can explain concepts by diagramming information, using a sketch, or displaying graphics. The program's Message Board allows you and your friends or colleagues to share postings: the board automatically collects and displays postings from all Network Assistant users. The Remote Alerts feature enables you to define alerts on some remote events for a particular remote computer and also specify various actions for them. For instance, you may want to be notified when a certain remote user is typing into the chat window or when they take the screenshot of your system (this is yet another useful feature: you can view screenshots of a remote screen).
