Description by the Software Developer: "Amaya is a Web editor, i.e. a tool used to create and update documents directly on the Web. Browsing features are seamlessly integrated with the editing and remote access features in a uniform environment. This follows the original vision of the Web as a space for collaboration and not just a one-way publishing medium. Work on Amaya started at W3C in 1996 to showcase Web technologies in a fully-featured Web client. The main motivation for developing Amaya was to provide a framework that can integrate as many W3C technologies as possible. It is used to demonstrate these technologies in action while taking advantage of their combination in a single, consistent environment. Amaya started as an HTML + CSS style sheets editor. Since that time it was extended to support XML and an increasing number of XML applications such as the XHTML family, MathML, and SVG. It allows all those vocabularies to be edited simultaneously in compound documents. Amaya includes a collaborative annotation application based on Resource Description Framework (RDF), XLink, and XPointer. The application is jointly developed by W3C and the WAM (Web, Adaptation and Multimedia) project at INRIA."

A desktop search application that provides full text search over your email, computer files, music, photos, chats and web pages that you've viewed. When you look at a web page, read an email, open or edit a file, or have an AIM chat, Google Desktop indexes that item and copies the item's content into its cache, so that you'll be able to find long-finished chats and older versions of files and web pages. Once you've installed Google Desktop, whenever your computer is idle for more than 30 seconds, it automatically starts indexing new items in real time as you see them. For example, it will find a web page immediately after you view it, or an email right after you read it. You can set Google Desktop's preferences to not index specific files or folders. You can also tell Desktop to remove specific files, folder or URLs from its cache. The capabilities of Google Desktop can be greatly expanded by a whole host of available plug-ins.
"Microsoft Management Console (MMC) is a framework that unifies and simplifies day-to-day system management tasks on Windows by providing common navigation, menus, toolbars, and workflow across diverse tools. MMC tools (called snap-ins) can be used to administer networks, computers, services, applications and other system components. It does not perform administrative functions, but hosts a variety of Windows and non-Microsoft snap-ins that do."
