Active SMART 2.12
S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology) is an industry-standard, reliability-prediction indicator for both IDE/ATA and SCSI hard disk drives. S.M.A.R.T. provides early warning for some hard disk drive failures so that critical data can be protected. But to use the S.M.A.R.T. information, you have to retrieve it from the disk and analyze it. That's exactly what the Active SMART program does.
Active SMART supports automatic hard disks check-up at system start-up, constant tracking of disk's state, and quick scan of the disks. The program supports hard drive thermal sensors and it is capable of tracking the drive's temperature in order to prevent overheating.
Active SMART displays and analyzes all of the S.M.A.R.T. attributes supported by your hard disks and enables you to view the raw values of the S.M.A.R.T. attributes. Active SMART notifies you of any problems with your hard disks by either pop-up messages or e-mail and network messages. The built-in messaging features allow the system administrators to get notified on an impending hard disk failure on any machine in the network, while the local alerting can be configured to notify the users separately.
Moreover, Active SMART includes an internal mail (SMTP) client for sending out email alerts, even if there is no email software installed in the system. It contains flexible logging features, supports system Event log and many other useful capabilities.
